The emulator has a test server where more than one person can jack in and chat. There is still no combat system, there isn't even jumping yet. But this is very exciting! Here to set up the emulator standalone Here to set up the account to jack into the test server. Ask me for any help to spare the same people from answering the same questions on the emu forums.

FYI There were 3 devs working on the the emulator; Rajkosto, Morheus and Neo. Morpheus and Neo have split from Rajkosto and are developing their own version of the emulator through this forum. The split was due to artistic differences. It looks like their version will develop more rapidly than Rajkosto's. However Raj has a test server up where we can all jack in and hang out. Running, emotes and chat is pretty much it. But it's better than what we had last week; Nothing.

Sweet, I'll be looking into setting up an account for the test server soon. Maybe we can all get in there one day soon and interact.

A new breakthrough has emerged. Check it out: QuiDormit writes: Just a very short update here...
The server is up, and it works from outside connections. Arcady and I are running tests and he's working to reduce lag as much as possible.
I want this to go as smoothly as possible, so we're making sure everything is working right. Then, I will write "how-to's" and give you all of the files you need to access the server, as well as a list of everything that currently works. Kikbun writes: great news
is it possible for you to give a quick overview on what is/will be working? QuiDormit writes: An overview? Why certainly! Where to start... Hmmm...
Here's a glimpse of what the server will have:
- Character creation works! (sort of. You can crate a character and have a name, but you can not quite yet customize your appearance in the character creation part of it -- more on how to do that later.)
- Hyperjump works! (sort of. You click the icon and you can see the camera zoom out. You can click on top of buildings or whatever and you will be teleported there. Getting the animation to work is the hard part, so we'll worry about that a little later. At least it's functional, eh?)
- Hyperspeed works!
- Doors work! (sort of. You can click on a door and be taken inside. The animation for the door doesn't work, and you can't just walk through it or even open it. But you can go through it).
- Combat works! (sort of. We haven't gotten all of the abilities working yet, and there are some animations that need to be sorted out, but as of now, you can get into a combat state and attack / be attacked by clicking on icons in your inventory for combat moves. It's naive, but it works and is fun. Machinegun Kick FTW.)
- NPC's! (again, not quite perfect, but Arcady is working on ways to spawn them so that you can get items!
- Inventory works! (once more, not quite the way it used to, but it works. You can have items like clothing and equip it.)
- Vendors will work! (Arcady is working on a way to get vendors to work right now so that you can easily purchase the clothing items and RSI pills you need in order to customize your character).
- LET Characters work! (You may run in to them at some point. I just saw Ghost earlier...)
- Missions work! (sort of. Arcady has implemented a naive mission system, and you can gain reputation by completing missions)
- Crews work! (When you make a crew (must be level 16+), you will see the title of the crew below character names. Not on your own character, but you'll see other characters. It is like a faction tag, but it's only for crews at the moment.)
- EXP gains work! (You can gain exp by completing missions, defeating NPC's, and by getting them from admins/LET)
- Teams work! (You can join a team for missions)
- Buddy List works! (You can see when your friends are online or offline!)
- RSI Masks work! (You can have them as an item and equip it as necessary)
I know I'm forgetting things, but this should get all of your mouths watering. It will come once we're sure it's stable and as lag free as possible. Also, as soon as we get a few kinks worked out.
Soon, I promise!QuiDormit writes: Well, although I didn't want to, I had to.
I have created separate forums specifically for this project. I'm maintaining the name "MxO Source" because that's the domain name I already had. :-p The MxO Source forums are specifically for RP on the server and support. That's it. There's a general forum there, too, but I consider this forum here (mxoemu.info) to be the "hub" of the Emulators, and will continue to consider it that way.
So head on over and create an account... Once you do that, take a peak in the "In Development" section. There's fun to see there.
mxosource.com/forum/So it looks like a 4th server and 4th project has branched off. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, Qui definitely sounds like he's made a TON of progress. I was thinking of downloading and maybe checking it out this weekend...

QuiDormit and Arcady have set up a server for their version of the emulator. They are currently setting up accounts for this server, but it is not open yet. They have said "soon".
Email accounts@mxosource.com with your account name and desired password. They will let us know when the server will be open.

It's buggy, but character creation is... workable. Vendors are working, although I can't afford anything. And there is a new mission!

Hey V, if you are refering to the vendors that have the RSI pills, even though the prices are like 60,000, 200,000, etc, you can buy them for nothing. just hit the buy button on them. I am not sure if it goes the same for clothing or not.
I wasnt able to get in last night but I plan to jack in again tonight. Any idea what time you'll be on?

that sucks.
Do you not have the MxO folder/files from when the matrix went offline a year and a half ago? or did you delete them?

Alas, I have a new computer that never had MxO installed on it. I might have the cds of MxO buried somewhere--I remember that I bought the disks because I wanted to see the package art. But God only knows where those are now, 6 years and 1 house move later. >.<
If I found those disks and installed it on my new computer, would that help?
