Hello folks!
I had to buy a new computer the other day because the last time I logged into game I seemed to have fried my old one. Was dancing with V and then poof CTD and could not get back in game then I started to have all kinds of weird issues and crashes. So I went out and bought a new, better system.
I will post the specs below. It is not an OMG type system but it 100% better then what I had and will hold me over until they start to fully support Quad Core CPU's and DDR3 RAM. I moved from a 3.0Ghz single core and a GeForce 6800 video card to this system here;
GX2-W Silver - Velocity Micro Classic Case - Pure Aluminum with side window, 2 x 120mm fans
Power Supply 500 Watt Velocity Micro® Power Supply with Dual Blue Lighted Fans
Motherboard Asus® P5N-E SLI nForce 650i SLI, Socket 775, PCI-E, DDR2
Processor Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6550, dual 2.33GHz cores, 1333MHz FSB, 4MB L2 Cache
CPU Cooling Arctic Cooling® Freezer 7 Pro Heatsink, Ultra Quiet Fan, Copper Heat Pipes, plus Arctic Silver™ 5 Thermal Compound
Platform Performance Optimization Advanced CPU, Motherboard, and Memory Performance Optimization
DDR2 Memory 2048MB Corsair™ DDR2 PC6400 DDR2-800 (2x1024)
256MB eVGA™ NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600 GT Velocity Micro Performance Edition, 2 x DVI

Nice!! I think they resolved the compatibility issue with the GeForce cards, but it might involve tweaking some settings? Check the DN1 forums if you have unusual lag issues when you enter buildings.
Gratz!

From this thread on DN1: Rarebit wrote: To summarize, these are the four issues we currently consider Vista-specific: 1) Fixed lighting on character child models Character child models (hands and faces) are lit differently than the rest of the body. When standing still, they are lit brightly from North and South, and in shadow on the sides facing East and West. This lighting does not update if the character animates while standing in place; for instance, your face is in shadow when facing East (even if the sun is shining directly on it), and if you do the /lookaround emote to make your head turn left and right, the dark shadow stays fixed on the front of your face even when your head turns to look North and South as the emote animation plays. Richworld pedestrians, whose faces are built into the main body, rather than attached as children, do not have the face lighting problem. 2) Texture corruption with character shadows enabled When Character Shadows are enabled in the advanced graphics window, texture corruption may occur on parts of characters, or on the entire world when standing in certain spots and facing certain directions. By "corruption," I mean that the textures are rendered either as a single flat color, or as a dithered pattern. 3) Black screenshots with anti-aliasing enabled Screenshots, either jpg or bmp, come out entirely black with Anti-aliasing enabled in the advanced graphics options panel. This only occurs when running full-screen (AA doesn't work when running in a window) at a resolution other than the desktop resolution; if you run at the desktop resolution, full-screen, with AA, screenshots work normally. 4) Female with nose ring has metallic shiny chest A female with the facial style that includes a nose-ring model gets a shiny specular highlight on her upper torso. It appears that at least with the female, the nose ring's specular image map, which should be rendering only on the ring part of the face child model, is rendering on the character's chest. And here's the thread about the Nvidia cards; if you read the whole thread, I think there's something in there about reconfiguring the useropts to work around the problem.

Well last night I logged in and had a glitch. I will have to see if they have a fix for it. Seems ok when I am in game just when I am in the "ship" and I try to look at my inv or at the skills tree, phone booths or what have you, the screen goes all white and all ic an see are the out lines of the boxes.
Maybe I need a older set of video drivers...
Well I will look and see if they have a fix or of they can help me get one.

Will the madness ever end?
I am looking for newer drivers for my vid card, too. I found a "package" on the internet and I decidec against installing them because I wasn't sure they were for my card. I suppose I can always do a rollback if it acts up.

Whats your video card Ves? I will find you some good drivers and post the link for you. You are correct that you can always roll them back as well. I am sure ya know this but make sure you use a driver cleaning tool to make sure you remove all the old drivers before installing new ones and then re-run your DirectX install as a just in case.

I have an ATI Mobility Radeon X300. My knowledge about vid cards is pretty limited so I don't really know how it compares to other cards.

Ok, so I know it's a random statement to make since I've been gone for so damn long but...
I DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS A GEFORCE ISSUE! CRAP!
I've had the problem of lagging out terribly whenever I run into a building for the longest time. (One of the 2 reasons why I had to stop playing. Hard to play a game when you can't play it without crashing.) Kind of good to know that it was a known issue and that there are places that I should look to in order to fix it. Just one more reason for my to hoof it to Best Buy tomorrow for a Sony time card.
