I have already contacted Vesuveus via a message in one of the simulation's email protocols ((Yahoo!)), but am posting here to formalize my application:
Handle: Variel
Bluepill Name: Elizabeth Fields
Abilities: Coder, Aikido, Knife Thrower, Gunman, Dataminer ((Level 25))
Background:
Variel was awakened as a young girl, well before the appearance of Neo. Her subconscious rejection of the simulation was profound and she had been a deeply troubled young girl, withdrawn and unaccountably disturbed. By the age of 12, she had been under psychiatric care for a number of years; the Zion crew that rescued Variel got to her just in time.
Finally free from the mental anguish of the Matrix, her natural intelligence and ambition blossomed. As an adolescent, Variel began working as a low-level computer technician. She demonstrated a talent for software design, and during the concluding days of the War, she obtained a competitive training appointment in the Zion command center. From her station in the control tower, Variel witnessed first-hand the devastation of the Dock and narrowly escaped the final onslaught of the Sentinels.
After Neo saved Zion, she transferred to Tyndall’s operations control section, where she maintained the control center construct systems. Her objective was to train under Tyndall and to position herself to be the next Zion Controller when Tyndall retired. Tyndall respected her ambition, so about a year after the Truce, Tyndall reassigned Variel to active field duty within the Matrix to study mission management from the other side of the equation.
Variel was initially dismayed at the transfer, but she accepted the relocation as a side-track in her long-term dream of becoming a high-ranking Zion officer. She was designated as an Operator and reserve operative on Covenant’s hovercraft, the Sovereign. At first, Variel served aboard the Sovereign reluctantly, and couldn’t wait for the transfer orders back to Zion. Over time, however, her interaction with bluepills seeking the truth has brought back memories of the desperation and terror of being trapped in the Matrix. Much to her surprise, she finds herself increasingly driven by a deep, compelling desire to continue rescuing as many souls as possible - even if it jeopardizes her dreams of a future in Zion Command.
Reason for application: The message of Neo transcends the political limitations of Zion and demands each human to sacrifice everything, if necessary, to secure a lasting peace and a truly free humanity. Variel is ready to dedicate herself fully to identifying and rescuing bluepills as a part of the Institute.
Time available: Most weeknights, late; occasional weekdays; most weekends.
Reference: Covenant, and by extension, Vesuveus.
