The Final Days
I would like to sincerely thank all those I interacted with over the past few years.
Clan Darkstar was my first real faction and home. I love the friends I made, their patients teaching me the game and an MMO in general.
Thanks to Meretrix for joining the game and helping create the Institute and bringing it in the direction it's come along.
Thanks to Haxadec, File, HeRn21, Variel & Tygrius for taking a chance on me, Meretrix and this faction. You guys really made this game worth playing.
Thanks to LtDarkstar, NoirOrchid and Denki for coming back for the last few days. It was great to put that Darkstar tag overhead for the end of days. NobleKnight, we missed you and were thinking about you.
These forums will stay up until further notice (practically forever) for all kinds of communications. I encourage you to check it out at least once a week and keep us all updated on what's going on in your world. I really value the relationships we've made here and would like to keep in touch with everyone who has made this aspect of my life so enjoyable.

This was a terrific experience, V. I loved being a part of the Institute, some of the best times in MxO for me. I have lots of great memories.
Thanks for all the inspiration, creativity, and amazing artwork. It was great pleasure to play with everyone here. Cheers!

Question:
With the destruction of the matrix, does this mean the blue pills are all free now? does this mean that EPN has finally actually really won the war??? is THIS what we have been fighting for!?!? victory can be so bittersweet. =( (Yall no im no RPer so if im wrong then youll just have to forgive me lol)
Anyways, its been a fun past few years and I think I have mentioned this before but Vesuveus and Meretrix taught me how to hyperjump and I am still gratefull for that and what it represents. I will drop by here from time to time to catch up, take care all!

Instead of creating a new thread, I thought I'd continue this one as an update on how things are going.
I gotta say, though I miss the game in so many ways and aspects of life, things are going pretty well overall. Today I completed my last day of work at my city job. I'm a temp there so they lay you off for 5 months and hire you for 6 months.
It is a good job. I'm learning some useful skills like carpentry, plumbing and other various skills. No electrical, though. Another department does that for us.
So for my three month vacation I'll start up again substitute teaching. I'm not too crazy about this because of the unpredictability of the schedule. But it pays well and I want to secure a teaching job of my own next year. Another reason I'm not excited about subbing is the swine flu scare. My boss' son had h1n1 and it's a scary thing. I just don't want to bring it home to my daughter.
Filling the MxO gap as a hobby, I've started learning Jiu Jitsu at the college in town here and joined a club for some extra instruction. Also I've lost about 10 lbs training for a tournament this weekend. Plus an old friend of mine has been grappling for years, so we have some common ground again. I've taken to JJ quickly because of my college wrestling background and if things pick up maybe I'll try out for a certain reality show on the Spike network. Who knows?!
You might already know that I've turned 30 years old a week or so back. I was planning on doing a character progression where Vesuveus goes gray and I'd develop some fleshed out character traits to go along with it, but the game ended early. I wound up writing a going grey story and posted it somewhere here months ago because I had some ideas to play out. RP was not interesting me much at the time, so when I had these ideas, I couldn't wait for Oct to get here, so I did it back then. And good thing too, because the announcement came shortly after.
So at 30 years old I'll next be getting married. In about 2 weeks we tie the knot! It's coming quickly and I hope this Jiu Jitsu tournament doesn't beat me up too much. It'll be a short ceremony and small reception, but hopefully it'll be fun. I'll be shaving my beard that I've been wearing for about 18 months and looking clean cut.
Aside from these things, here's a list of other things I do to occupy my time: Work Playing with baby Nintendo Emulator Chores Watching videos on Cinemassacre.com . Awesome and funny! Playing with dog; sometimes I wear the rollerblades and he runs. He loves it and I want to post a youtube video.
So that's about it for my post-MxO life as of now.

So on Saturday I entered my first jiu jitsu tournament. If you're not sure how it works, it is like wrestling with submission holds and chokes. You can use the gi to throw and choke people, like in judo.
So I practiced a few times with a gi and entered the gi division and no-gi divisions for beginner. Surprisingly I won both divisions. Plus the finalists qualify for an absolute division where all experience levels compete against each other. So for my weight I took 2nd in that.
So my post MxO life is picking up. A youtube video is in the works. I think I'll keep training and hopefully start mixed martial arts next year.

Ok, here is a fight video from the tournament. It is the gi division final match. I win by arm triangle submission! The description commentates on the match. I'll also add some of those balloons to the video and see how that goes. I've never done that before.

It's funny, everyone else's gi was double or tri weaved to prevent tearing with all sorts of patches with logos and school names on it. Mine was the thinnest cotton, plain white with no logos.

Looks like this might be next for the puppy; Weight pulling. Check this video to check it out. We're getting him the special harness for Christmas and a goat cart for pulling heavy loads soon, too.

Almost a month since my last update here. If you're not following the MxO Emulator, here is a link to the forums. I hope I see some of you sign up there and get in the mix. Things to avoid is posting questions. Unfortunately, the members show frustration for questions posted that have already been answered. Aside from that, the Emulator is due for an update. Once this update is released, I am going to write an idiot's guide to downloading it and running the Emu. The neat thing is that the game does not have to be installed on your computer. As long as all the files are downloaded and are in the correct folders, the game will run without having to go through an installation wizard like any other program. My test will be on my external hard drive since I never actually un-installed the game after the doomsday shutdown. Last point for MxO related news is that the lead developer, who goes by the name Morpheus, thinks he has found a way of restoring characters and levels from some data packets. Unfortunately, coding and crafting library cannot be restored, nor cn inventory or abilities, so I guess we have to say goodbye to our Headgear and Sakura bandannas. But abilities can always be acquired, so it's not too bad. We may be getting our leveled characters back! Aside from gaming, I've been keeping busy with some jiu jitsu training and added boxing. I've only sparred twice with light contact, but I have gotten so much more comfortable swinging and dodging from the 1st session to the second. As a matter of fact, I even signed up for an ametuer and professional mixed martial arts fight night. I'll let you know if I get put on the fight card. It's coming up in March. The Holidays are here and the last thing I want to do is get into a debate about Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas. I'll start a thread about what we're all doing for the Holidays and such. So join in and let us all know what you're up to in your post-MxO life!

Some good news: I was contacted by the matchmaker for the mixed martial arts event and it looks like I'll be on the fight card. I'll have to lose some weight, another 11 pounds, to make the 155 lbs weight class. One cool thing is that I may get to come out to a song. I was thinking this song by Jesper Kyd. It picks up at 6:15. Or maybe this song by mobb deep. lol, Got any suggestions?

How's everybody doing?
Wed is my eye exam and blood test for the mma fight. Pretty exciting that there are these preliminary things I have to do in order to get into the ring.
Also, I think I have decided on the song I'll come out to. It's really not a surprise to any Matrix fan: Rage Against The Machines "Wake Up"
